Quickly Delete all emails in Horde Mail

I recently ran into a problem with an email account getting over 3,000 emails within a very short amount of time. The webmail client that was being used is Horde, and there did not seem to be an easy way to just delete all of the emails in the inbox. After a little searching around I found this solution.

First you will need to select Folders from the top navigation. This should bring up a list of all your folders, including your inbox. This screen shot was taken after I already emptied the inbox, which is why it shows (0/0).

Once you have selected the folders that you want to empty, you can use the drop down menu above it to empty the folders of all the emails that they have.

It should ask for confirmation and then you should no longer have any emails in your inbox.

Thanks for the quick and informative post, pal. You saved me 64 MB of disk space, I hadn’t checked my webhost’s default mail account in five years and the offers for Rolex and miracle pills really added up.

  2. Jason says:

No problem, glad that this helped. It has saved a lot of time for me. Some of those unchecked accounts can get spammed like crazy.

  3. NHP says:

Thanks from me too. I hesitate to reveal how many junk messages were in my inbox, suffice to say that emptying it page by page was beginning to feel like a life sentence.

  4. cmj says:

Isn’t this odd, but I don’t have a Folders option on my top navigation in Horde…

  5. Jason says:

It may very well depend on what version of Horde you use. I am not an expert at it and no longer use the server that I once had with those emails. I would imagine there would have to be some way to modify the folders if you have any though…

  6. Kamal Hasa says:

Thanks for tut man! My inbox was flooding :)

  7. Ethan says:

Huge help! Thank you. Deleting 13,000+ emails, 20 at a time, would have taken forever. =)

Thanks a lot for the very useful post.

  9. Joe says:

Thanks for this straight to the point post.

I had over 13,000 emails piled up over time and really didn’t want to go through 681 pages deleting them all.

  10. Kim says:

Thank You!!! 20,000 spam emails are now out of my mind.

  11. Katie says:

Many thanks! I had been doing it page by page and it was driving me nuts!

  12. Jennifer says:

    Nice tutorial,thanks for sharing.
I should add that in some horde settings the drop down menu is below the selected folder.
